Jump Start: Crochet 101

For the very beginner! This class is a stepping-stone for any other crochet classes offered! In this class, you will learn the basic stitches that almost every pattern or stitch is based off from. You will learn about different tools and types of yarn! 

Children are allowed to participate with an accompanying adult!

Keyboarding Review

Overview of basic computer skills, an easy to use 'roadmap' to prepare students for daily use of the computer for communication. This is not a substitute for a full 'typing class'. Keyboarding skills will need to be demonstrated at a 25 WPM minimum.

Four main skill areas will be covered; Mouse skills, Navigation skills, Keyboarding skills & word processing skills.

 StoryTime Adventures will be targeting children at the 2-4yr old age range, not yet enrolled into a preschool program. During these StoryTime Adventures, an Adult Education Instructor will be providing family literacy techniques to use in your own home and daily routines. Also including a hands-on activity for each child!

Join Lisbon Adult & Community Education monthly at Gartley Street School for a StoryTime Adventure! As a bonus: each child participating brings home a copy of the monthly book (only one book per family/child participating)!

Each month has it’s own theme that will be explored with a specially selected story & hands-on activity! Registration is required so that we can prepare accordingly. We have a MINIMUM of 4 registered to HOLD & MAXIMUM of 15 for each month.

ME Driving Dynamics

This is a 5hr course offering all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving skills. Course includes discussion of collison avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and includes the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine's roads and highways. Completing this course earns the participant a 3-point credit on their driving record with the DMV. 

Students 65yrs+ can receive a discount on the class, $25, as well as with their insurance provider.

In order to apply for one's concealed firearms permit it is essential, and required, to successfully complete firearm safety education.

Join us for a class that combines face-to-face instruction, home-study, and time on the shooting range. This course is appropriate for all people interested in gun safety whether you have experience or have never shot a firearm before. Students are provided texts and introduced to the necessary readings on the first night for success on the written examination. JT Reids instructors are state and NRA Certified.

Class time is Thursday at Lisbon Adult & Community Education, 19 Gartley St, Lisbon from 530-830P. Shooting will be held on Saturday from 8 AM to noon at Yankee Gun in Poland, Rte 126.

The process by which one applies for their concealed permit will be covered with a discussion about rights, responsibilities, laws, and reciprocity.

A certificate of completion will be issued to document the requisite safety training for permit application. Students may not bring ammunition or firearms to the Lisbon classroom. Instructors will discuss details of the shooting range day in class.

Cost includes warm baked treats and your choice of coffee, tea or hot cocoa! $30 per person.

Registration is just $5 (non-refundable) and the $25 is paid to the Instructor day of the class!

Presented by G.E.A.R Parent Network, Laurie Cavanaugh, CPSP, Regional Parent Support Coordinator

Suicide is a significant concern in Maine and nationwide, but we can do something about it. Come learn more about what you can do to prevent suicide. The goals of the workshop seminar are to heighten awareness about suicide in Maine and beyond; increase the ability to speak openly about suicide; provide information about the risks and protective factors associated with suicide, teach what warning signs and clues to look for; teach skills to intervene when concerned someone might be considering suicide; and provide helpful resources for participants.
